Mbungo Primary School

Mbongo had a primary school before we started work on Likoma.

However, as a direct result of our work, it now has:

Electricity

Uniforms (colour chosen by the pupils, with Wednesday alloted as a 'Non-Uniform Day' to enable them to be washed.)

Text Books (There were previously only two books in the entire school. Now, there are enough for every child to learn the three core curriculum subjects: Maths, English and Chichwen)

A Kitchen Block

A Cook (see the picture)!

A Parent Teacher Organisation (ensuring that, along with everything else we instigate on Likoma, it facilitates self-governnance)

Libraries
We're delighted that the shipment of books that resulted from our 'Book for Christmas' appeal last year has now arrived on Likoma.

It will help to develop school libraries, ensuring that every child has more reading material in future.

Kaya Mawa Lodge
Kaya Mawa lodge is the main hotel on Likoma. We'd like to thank James and Suzie (who manage it) for their help and support. Without them, our projects would be much further from reality.
